What is
Naprapathy

1 Minute Read

Naprapathic Therapy is a branch of Physical Medicine that focusses on the role of connective tissue in musculoskeletal health, this includes the role of ligaments, muscles, tendons, and fascia.

The aims of care is to alleviate pain, improve functional mobility, and restore lost biomechanical function to the body through the use of various manual therapy techniques, general nutritional counselling, and through the prescription of therapeutic exercises.

Unlike other forms of musculoskeletal care which may specifically target a specific type of structure, Naprapathy recognizes that the body’s structures and function is interconnected; therefore, it attempts to treat a dysfunction by addressing the underlying cause.

This may be tight fascia and/or muscle tension born of a structural-driven issue, or muscle weakness which is affecting the patterning and sequencing of muscle activity born of a functional-driven issue.

Why I Chose to Study Naprapathy?

Choosing to study Naprapathy was a culminative decision, my passion for human movement and biomechanics drew me in; and learning how connective tissue can play a role in influencing movement and posture was intriguing.

Furthermore, the approaches implemented in Naprapathic Therapy makes it a great conservative approach to treatment, for individuals, prior to considering more invasive procedures and/or methods.
